What is Villa Park High School Hockey?
VP Hockey is a non-profit corporation
formed to advance inline roller hockey at Villa Park High
School ("VPHS"). The organization has formed a team which
competes in a High School league at the varsity level. The
team is not school-sponsored, nor affiliated with VPHS or
Orange Unified School District ("OUSD"). The team is however,
recognized as an official club team by VPHS, and those
selected for the team are eligible for school recognition as
noted below.
School Recognition
- Participants have an opportunity to earn a VP athletic
letter.
- Participants may be eligible for P.E. Credit
- The team will be featured in the VPHS Yearbook.
- The games will be reported in the VPHS school
newspaper (the Oracle) as well as the local Orange City
News.
Costs/Fees
The costs of the program will be borne
by the participants, not VPHS or OUSD. The actual total cost
for each team for a full season is expected to be in excess of
$10,000, which includes: 1) League fees; 2) Practice fees; 3)
Coach's stipend; 4) Uniforms; and 5) Web site design and
maintenance.
Players however, will only be
charged $650 each, which includes a one-time additional
$150 to offset the cost of brand new, individualized team
jerseys and uniform pants.
The balance of the costs will be
covered by VP Hockey from funds received through donations and
fundraisers. Player fees will not be refunded in the event a
player is cut from the team due to an eligibility
disqualification (e.g., GPA drops below 2.0) or a violation of
school/team conduct policies.
